“The superior doctor prevents sickness;
The mediocre doctor attends to impending sickness;
The inferior doctor treats actual sickness.”
– Chinese Proverb
It is important to understand that the Santosa Wellness approach is more in tune with healthy sustainable prevention than pharmaceutical quick fixes that can address the symptoms but not necessarily address the root problem. Allopathic medicine (Modern Medicine) is the research and development of new pharmaceutical drugs and techniques to treat a disease or chronic illness. So with allopathic medicine, the cure will not be known till the disease is already established or the person’s health has suffered enough for the drugs to be affective. Of course this branch of medicine has a true and honest place in the overall portfolio of available health and wellbeing techniques; it is that Santosa prefers to take a more pro-active position when confronting conditions that may be caused by the individual’s lifestyle habits – nutrition, exercise and rest.
This piece is not to criticize the use of pharmaceutical drugs and intrusive surgery, just the opposite; it is to remind people that living a well-balanced lifestyle, can dramatically reduce the chances of some of the most dangerous conditions that kill people worldwide – heart disease, organ damage and failure, diabetes and even some cancers. Part of the process of living a well-balanced lifestyle is education. Santos Wellness welcomes everyone to participate in the many engaging classes held regularly through the week and make use of the extensive library.

We all make resolutions and we want to stick to the them.
This year will be the year when you finally let go of sweets and we master the yoga posture that made you sweat last year, or you finally make the decision to go for your dreams.
And it will be the year also when you decide to read more, to make good laughs and to make new friends.
Why not? Resolutions are not only “hard work’ to do, they can actually be funny and exciting.
Here are some examples:
– Say “hello” more
You might suffer from loneliness or you want to improve your health? Just say more hellos.
Get out of your comfort zone and give yourself permission to say hello at least to five new people every day. It will be the easiest thing you can do for your health and for your mood.
– Watch funny movies and videos and read funny books
Science continues to demonstrate how beneficial laughter can be (have you ever heard about Laughter Yoga? If not, check it out on Google, join one of their circle and get ready for a transformation! …and this can be #3 resolution!)
Laughter can decrease levels of the hormone that impairs short-term memory, and defuse anger and anxiety.
Funny movies can be really helpful.
– Learn and do something new everyday
Dr. Lawrence Katz, the father of Neurobic, affirm that when we learn, and do, something new everyday, we literally create new neural paths. This promotes our brain health, as a prevention for Alzheimer’s disease.
Some ideas: brush your teeth holding the toothbrush with your non-dominant hand; change your place when you sit at the table for lunch; button your shirt up using your non-dominant hand; make a drawing with your eyes closed and use only your visual memory to do it; open your fridge RIGHT NOW and make a dish using what you find in the fridge – using not more than six ingredients;…… the list is endless!
To your new resolutions! Don’t forget to write them down and to let us know!

Sometimes we feel overwhelmed by many thoughts and situations.
We have attachments, we feel that “if only I could wait for a little longer….” or “I cannot let it go, I need to control it” “I know everything, I already know how to do it”…do those thoughts sound familiar?
Once upon a time there was a scholar who wanted to learn Zen.
He had an extensive background in Buddhist stories and he wanted to know more about Zen. Then he came to study with the master.
The scholar started to talk extensively, without pausing and the Master listened patiently and then began to make tea. When it was ready, he poured the tea into the scholar’s cup until it began to overflow and run all over the floor. The scholar saw what was happening and shouted “Stop, stop! The cup is full, you can’t get anymore in!”
The master stopped pouring and said “Yes, the cup is full. You are like this cup, full of ideas and thoughts. I can’t put anything in your cup. Before I can teach you, you’ll have to empty your cup.”
This story is an old one, but it continues to be played out in our lives, and in our minds, day-by-day.
We are stuck to our ideas, our opinions and so trapped by our conditioning that we fill ourselves up to the brim and nothing can get in.
We need to learn how to let go, how to create space in ourselves, in our minds and hearts, so we can welcome new ideas, new thoughts and new possibilities.
This week I suggest a very simple though powerful exercise (simple things are always powerful); we will perform a ritual. Our subconscious loves rituals, because they speak directly to it and they go healing and transform what needs to be transformed.
[image src=”https://website.santosaphuket.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/candle-in-the-dark.jpg” shape=”img-rounded”]
What you need:
A piece of paper, a pen, one white candle, a small pot (or a terracotta vase) and yourself.
Sit down at your table and write on the paper all the thoughts, worries and ideas you know you no longer need. All the ideas that hold space in your mind and in your heart, the ones you feel are no longer helping you. Take all the time you need and write without editing.
At the end, light the candle and burn the paper. Gather the ashes into the pot and throw them down the sink (if you don’t live near a river or the sea) or go to the river/sea and give them to the flow.
Give thanks to the elements (water, fire) for taking care and transforming your thoughts and for assisting you in letting go of what you do not need anymore.
Start to notice the small changings and be open to the new ideas and events that will happen to you.
IMPORTANT: When performing this ritual you should be alone, no cellphones and no one around that could interrupt you. Be sure to take some time for yourself.

The creators of NLP, Richard Bandler John Grinder and Frank Pucelik, claim that there is a connection between the neurological processes (“neuro”), language (“linguistic”) and behavioral patterns learned through experience (“programming”) and that these can be changed to achieve specific goals in life.
NLP is a model for excellence, and we can teach ourselves how to be able to codify and reproduce an expertise in any domain of activity.
Neuro-Semantics is about our personal development for greater meaningfulness, success and contribution in life.
This outstanding model, developed by Dr. L.Michael Hall, was awarded as the best innovation in the NLP Field; the first and core model of Neuro-Semantics is the Meta-States Model developed in 1994 by Dr. Hall and this model has taken NLP to a higher level of professional ethics.
In NS we focus on the processes that will unleash your highest and best potentials. Neuro-Semantics focuses on Self-Actualization for individuals, companies, communities and nations and as it is arises from the synergy of meaning and performance we use the Self-Actualization quadrants as a model and tool for enabling it.
With NLP and Neuro-Semantics you can win the inner game, so you can achieve peak performance in your outer games of everyday life. This way you are empowered to unleash your highest potentials, understanding the nature of your mind, emotions and bodies. So you can experience patterns for developing greater competence, self-confidence and success in careers, health and fitness and relationships.
The Neuro-Semantic Meta-Coach is an expert of the process, and not of the content; by using the skill of listening and asking powerful questions, the Coach supports the coachee in achieving the desired results. The Coach is totally committed to the coachee. Meta-Coaching is a powerful coaching methodology that transcends traditional performance coaching, taking you to higher levels to experience Developmental and Transformational Change.
What makes Meta-Coaching unique?

BREATHWORK
BREATHWORK is one of the oldest method for transformation and physical well-being used for centuries to eliminate negative patterns and create deeper harmony, spiritual connection and joy in living.
Is the art and science of teaching breath awareness and breathing techniques for enhancing our human, physical, emotional and spiritual condition.
Some of the amazing results of this practice are, between many:
– Inner peace and stress reduction
– Better physical health
– Enhanced mental concentration
– Comprehension and elimination of negative patterning
– Sense of control over your destiny
– Comprehension of the thoughts pattern that affect your life
A BREATHWORK session starts with an exploration of your intention and goal for the session and progresses to the breathing session in which you will be guided to use a rhythmic breath (the so-called “circular breath”). During this part you will release stuck energy; the session ends with relaxation and grounding and a final part of coaching, for the purpose of integrating all the understandings and insights gained during the breathing session.
Normally, after the first session we already get a deep understanding of our thinking patterns and a general sense of well-being and we can experience outstanding results from the session. Having said so, we recommend at least 5 sessions to deeply experience amazing and lasting results.
A FREE 30-minutes session is offered to evaluate if BREATHWORK and the Practitioner are good for you.

On the One Billion Rising for Justice event of last year, we focused on the issue of justice for all survivors of gender violence. Events took place in 200 countries, where women, men and youth came together to Rise, Release and Dance outside of court houses, police stations, government offices, schools, embassies, or simply gathering places where women deserve to feel safe but too often do not.
This year we are rising for Revolution.
We invite you to join us.
Dance is one of the most powerful forces on the earth and we have only just begun to tap into where it can take us.
Dancing allows us to come back into our bodies as individuals and groups and a world, it connects our feet to the earth and inspires us to move at her rhythms.
Dancing is defiance. It is joyous and raging. It is contagious and free and beyond corporate or state control.
We have only begun to dance.
One Billion Rising and One Billion Rising for Justice are the beginning. We’ve danced. We’ve demanded justice.
Now we are demanding CHANGES.
Change can happen if WE ACT NOW AND WE ACT TOGETHER!
ONE BILLION RISING is a global movement, a catalyst, a worldwide decision to end violence against women, a demand for justice, an invitation, a gathering of the ready, housed everywhere, housed in our hearts.
Raising YOU, US….

Natural home remedy using oatmeal, papaya and honey:
This mask has super powers! There are many many recipes for helping your skin recover from sunburn. We have chosen this one because we love it!
Some facts about the different ingredients and why they help your skin recover from sunburn:
Papaya – we love papaya not only for its deliciousness but also for its healing properties. An enzyme called papain helps speed up the growth of new tissue and can help keep your sunburn from peeling. Hanging shreds of dead skin are somewhat unattractive, so if smearing on some mushed up fruit can keep that from happening, DO IT! It also contains moisture which soothes your sunburn.
Oatmeal – Oats are effective in fighting dull, flaky dryness as they contain polysaccharides and beta-glucan, which become gelatinous in water. They form a fine protective film when applied, which gives your skin some protection and acts as a natural moisturizer by removing the dead skin cells as well as penetrating deep into the skin to provide much needed nourishment. It enhances wound healing and shallow abrasions and improves collagen deposition and activation of immune cells within the skin.
Honey – this wonderful healing super food has so many applications as it contains a lot of nutrients, trace minerals and vitamins. It restores hydration to the deepest layers of sun-exposed skin—and honey contains powerful anti-inflammatories to calm burned skin and aid recovery.
Here comes the super easy recipe:
1. Take 1 cup chopped papaya
2. Crush the papaya to a paste
3. Add 2 tbsp oatmeal
4. Add 1 tbsp honey
5. Mix well
6. Apply this on your skin
7. Leave it for 30 min
8. Wash off with cold water
