Normally our body has a natural ability to deal with debris substances. However nowadays we are being exposed to high levels of harmful substances and sometimes, because of low immunity and bad function of the body´s system, we start to keep instead of releasing toxins. Imagine how many years of accumulation our body has been obliged to deal with.

Think of your body as a powerful machine, like a car. At regular intervals you send your car to the garage for a check-up. Sometimes the car looks very clean and shiny from the outside, but inside the oil is very dirty and thick, the filters are completely polluted and at any time the car could stop. Our body is exactly the same. We need to clean our filters and recharge our batteries in order to thrive on the road of life.

When the body is overwhelmed by toxins we may start to experience some kind of symptoms: irritable, stressed, difficult to concentrate, tired, migraines, headache, gas, bloated, constipation, stomach pain, insomnia, seasonal or food allergies, varicose veins, psoriasis, acne, unpleasant body odor and lack of libido.
Cleansing it is a very effective way to prevent and heal diseases.

Curiosity: Have you ever wondered that when we get sick, the first thing that happens is we lose our appetite. That is the natural way of our body trying to fast and detox, which means the body stops the digestive process to keep all the energy, in order to purify, heal, repair and rejuvenate.

Sometimes during the fast some people may have experience some symptoms of Healing Crises.

The scientific term used for it is ‘The Herxeimer Reaction’, which means that when you start the process of purification your body will be very happy and will start to assist this elimination, cleansing in a deeper cellular level.

Sometimes if you are releasing lots of toxins in the blood stream faster than getting rid of it, you may experience some unpleasant healing crises, such as:

• Fever
• Diarrhea
• Vomiting
• Coughing

This does not mean you are getting sick; actually they are very positive, it shows that your body is cooperating and purifying more intensively.

Healing Crises without medicines

Don´t try to avoid any kind of unpleasant symptoms by taking drugs. Instead, take a deep breath and surrender completely to the purification, trusting in the own healing intelligence of your Immune system.

You can support this process by resting, drinking plenty of water and electrolytes (coconut – broth), massage, herbal steam and most important: being in a positive relaxed mental state.

Think of your colon as the internal purification plant of your body. All of your cells and tissues – and your major organ of detoxification, the liver – rely upon a well-functioning colon so that they can cleanse your body of toxins! When everything is working as it should, your colon cleans the waste out of your body, but more importantly, it also absorbs leftover nutrients (like water, electrolytes, and vitamins) from digested foods and sends them back for your body to use. In essence, your colon is deciding what to get rid of and what important nutrients to redistribute.

The average person has between 2 – 7 kg  of old fecal matter in their colon, even with a bowel movement each day (YUK!). The accumulation of waste (or mucoid plaque) on the walls of your colon creates the perfect breeding ground for some most unwelcome visitors – parasites, yeast, bad bacteria and viruses. Because of colon blockages, too many people today essentially cannot effectively detoxify.  Over time, as the toxins build up, they become sick, diseased and lose the quality of life that good health brings.

Cleansing the colon can solve this! By cleaning and purifying the colon, we reset our health…  and allow the colon to redistribute important nutrients and hormones back to the body for use. When these pathways are blocked, autointoxication occurs, and this can result in a variety of symptoms including hormonal imbalance, tiredness, weight gain, constipation, insomnia, lack of clarity and candida, just to name a few.

Is an enema or a colema the best way to clean the large intestine?

Difference between Colema and Enema

A colema is a much more thorough cleanse which uses between 14 – 18L of warm, purified water, often with additives such as coffee, garlic, spirulina or vitamin c, to tackle a range of different health complaints. The water is on constant flow, so holding it in the colon is not required – it flushes through the large intestine, and as a result cleans and purifies much more deeply than an enema can. The procedure is performed on a colema board, which makes it safe, clean and effective.

An enema is 1- 2L of water with additives as above, which is taken into the colon, and then held for approximately 20 minutes. The solution is then released in the toilet. This is also an effective colon cleansing method, however, it is not as effective of purifying as a colema, because it simply cannot reach the same level of depth in the large intestine.

How do you spend your time? What does most of your day look like? Thinking of the things you should be doing?

Well the science of time management could be a tool you would want to look into.

The Science Behind a To Do List

We usually attack our to do lists like warriors charge onto a battlefield slaying our way through the easiest tasks first, then onto the boring ones (or better said we procrastinate) to then be exhausted and too weak to take on the big bad boys at the end – the giant dragon of tasks…

So how do we fight this daily battle better, easier and with less battle wounds?

Firstly write a prioritised To-do list at the beginning or the end of the day – it makes your life a whole lot more streamlined and you have less things distracting you in your head because you have it all written down and can’t forget anything… This is how you design a battle plan after all isn’t it? Find out which opponent needs to be taken care of first to strategically take lead of the battle!

Secondly we need to make an action plan for battle. No good warrior can go on fighting dragons forever without taking a break. So here’s how science says you can tame the beast of time management:

Ever heard of the Pomodoro technique? Yes it sounds Italian and it is a vegetable but hear me out.
This technique implies that we can be super-efficient in 25 minute increments.
This 25 minute increment can help us focus so we can get a lot of things done because we are not overloading the brain!

Think of it this way if it is a task we don’t like so much we know there will be an end to it in 25 minutes. This is way better than thinking – “this is going to take hours I will do it later/tomorrow/next year/never…”
After 25 minutes you take a 5 minute break from whatever you are doing.

In this break you should do something that doesn’t engage the mind so much.

A few examples would be go for a walk, do some office yoga, arrange your desk, meditate or do breathing exercises, read a novel – whatever you want really.

Then return back to what you were doing if you aren’t finished yet and do another 25 min set of work/study/chores.

We have spoken numerous times about the physical benefits of a detox program, however the emotional clearing and spiritual lightness that can be achieved is not without some uncomfortable symptoms of its own. During a detox program, our body feels discomfort whilst toxins are being disposed of more quickly that our elimination systems are able to handle. During this period, many people feel irritable, tired, teary, and as though they just want to give up. This is only temporary, so we need to switch on a positive mindset in order to combat the negativity and enter into a faster’s high. 

Our top tips for turning your mind around?

1. Surrender to the process

Accept the discomfort and remind yourself that you knew that this was part of the hard work required in order to purify your body. Let go and do not fight yourself – the whole point is release, of both physical AND emotional toxins. If you need to cry, allow yourself to. The adage, ‘this too shall pass’ is key.

2. Remember your goals
Did you sign up for a detox program because you felt toxic? Overweight? Wanted to improve your energy levels? Reduce your cortisol? Reminding yourself of the reasons why you spent money and time on detoxing your body, is a great way to focus on the end goal and create positive intent. 

Watch your emotions instead of allowing your emotions to control you, recognise that they are not you. Ponder on reflect on what you are feeling, acknowledge it and then allow yourself to release it. It might be unpleasant, however just as physical cleansing creates strength, so does emotional cleansing with regards to mental power.

3. Have support
If you are aware that you are going through emotional trauma, make sure that you have some support. Santosa
Detox Center has a number of practitioners on hand to assist with the emotional part of detoxing, and indeed mental changes that you would like to make. Remind your loved ones that you may have a difficult time during detox, and ask for their encouragement whilst you are going through the process. 

4. Make the experience as easy as possible!
Drink plenty of fluids so that the toxins are flushed out of your system as quickly as possible. If you are feeling particularly bad, have a full body massage to encourage circulation. Attend the morning yoga classes to give your mind a rest and to banish toxins from joints and ligaments. Take hot showers and use the sauna – sweat it out! Remember to respect the detox – if you are tired, then rest.

It is the act of going out of our way to contribute to the life of another, going far beyond the self, which makes us happy and fulfilled. Did you know that performing or even witnessing a random act of kindness floods our brains with Dopamine, ‘happy’ chemical that our brain produces in response to pleasurable activities.   1. Perspective – when we help those less fortunate than ourselves, it gives us a reality check, resulting in reassessing the negativity that we may experience when we think we don’t have enough or we are struggling.
  2. The power to change someone’s life for the better – sometimes just lifting someone else’s spirits can create more joy and happiness than we could ever imagine. Sometimes just one small seed of wisdom or moment of compassion can alter their whole way of thinking! 
  3. The joy of giving – the sense of peace and wellbeing that is experienced when giving is exquisite. Seeing true gratitude in someone’s eyes because of your actions warms the heart and invokes the biggest of smiles. There is a true purity in giving and it is one of the most blissful states of being.
  4. The more kindness you give, the more you will receive back – We are what we extend out into the world. If we are able to give love, compassion and kindness, then we are much more likely to be open to receiving it. Kindness then becomes cyclical and we learn to have an open heart and greater reception to receiving it ourselves.

So… how do we make practicing random acts of kindness part of our lives, every single day? Think about the people that quietly do wonderful things for others and make a point of thanking them. Volunteer for your local charity. Offer a co-worker some of your time in order to help them. Give compliments, generously! Share some of your wealth. Offer to do your partner’s chores – whether they may be cooking dinner or taking the rubbish bin out. Leave a beautiful note in a library book to lift someone’s day. Forgive – ring that person that you fell out with years ago and ask how they are doing. 

Really, the options are endless, but if we all banded together and promised each other to practice just one random act of kindness each and every day, imagine how much more beautiful the world could be?!
