Simple Tips to detox your home

Simple Tips to detox your home

Rather than turning to harsh chemicals, such as bleach or borax, to banish mold and to clean your house, there are eco-friendly, natural ways at home that won’t hurt your family, pets or the environment.

And the ingredients are easy to find and very affordable.

detox your home shopping list:

  • Vinegar (either white vinegar or apple cider vinegar)
  • Tea tree oil solution
  • Citrus seed extract and water
  • Lemon juice
  • Hydrogen peroxide
  • Baking soda

Those ingredients are great for your house cleaning and they make the best detergent ever to detox your house.

So, without further ado, here are our suggestions for you:

Vinegar:

You can dilute it with water or you can spray it from a bottle onto the area and leave it for few hours, then scrub with a brush. It works miracles on limestone, mold and it kills bacteria as well as viruses. Vinegar also prevents mold if you spray it on surfaces and leave it to dry. You can add some drops of essential oil like mint, lemon or thyme. Thyme essential oil is a powerful antiseptic.

Tea tree oil solution:

Just two teaspoons of tea tree oil mixed with two/three cups of warm water can make a solution you can spray onto mold. It prevents the formation of mold spores and the strong scent keep pests away from your furniture

Citrus seed (or grapefruit seed) extract and water:

They are both very powerful against mold and bacteria and, unlike vinegar and tea tree oil, do not have an odor but their taste is very bitter. You can dilute 30 drops with three cups of water, mix in a bottle and spray where needed. Do not rinse.

Hydrogen peroxide:

With baking soda, this is my best choice when I want to clean my house. Both very cheap, they do miracles. I use them in the bathroom, in the kitchen and over all surfaces that need a deep cleaning.

Use three percent hydrogen peroxide from the bottle on the surface you want to clean and leave for 10-15 minutes. Keep the hydrogen peroxide into bottles in a dark area.

It is also a powerful disinfectant and it removes mold spores.

Baking soda:

Used with vinegar and water, or alone with water, baking soda is very effective at cleaning your house. Here are some suggestions:

– Mix baking soda with enough water to make a paste. Scrub the surface with the paste and leave it for 15 minutes, then rinse with water or vinegar.

– For cleaning oven, pans and baking trays: make a paste with baking soda and water and scrub the surface, as above. Leave it all night. Then rinse with hydrogen peroxide and then with water. This remedy removes all the oily stains and it is chemicals-free.

Do-it-yourself dishwasher soap! With four ingredients and in few minutes…

This is all you need:

  • 8 lemons
  • 800 ml of water
  • 300 grams of salt
  • 200 ml of vinegar

Put the lemon into a pot with water and boil them (like potatoes) until they become soft. Drain the water and cut the lemon in small pieces, discard the seeds and process them until you have a puree. You should have a very thick juice, with no pieces of lemons left in it. If there are still pieces, use a cloth and filter the pulp and keep the dense juice.

Now, mix the puree with 800 ml of water and add the vinegar and the salt. Place the mixture into a pot and bring it to the boil, stirring WITH A WOODEN SPOON, from time to time until the mixture reaches the right consistency…neither too thick nor too runny. It will take around half an hour.

You will get almost 500 ml. of an excellent detergent, 100% ecological!

Use one or two tablespoons of it into your dishwasher.

All-purpose cleaner:

  • 100 ml of vinegar
  • 400 ml of distilled water
  • 8-10 drops of castile soap (or dish soap)
  • Essential oil, few drops (mint, lemon, thyme, rosemary, lavender, etc)

Place all the ingredients into a spray bottle and use it where needed.

Kombucha Healthy Drink

Kombucha Healthy Drink

MAKE YOUR OWN KOMBUCHA

Kombucha is one of the healthy drink you should try to take once a day if possible. Making a homemade kombucha is very easy; all you need is tea, sugar, a SCOBY and patience.

SCOBY is a Simbyotic Colony of Bacteria and Yeast, which ferment the sugar, metabolizing it into a slightly carbonated and tangy drink, rich with probiotics and beneficial acids.

You can buy the SCOBY online, or ask someone who has it to give you a piece, or you can make it by yourself.

HOMEMADE SCOBY:

Buy a bottle of kombucha (preferably the plain one, without flavor added) and pour the content into a glass jar (Mason jar or into one of those big glass jars used for pickles).

Put a piece of clean cloth, like a piece of a cotton t-shirt or a cheesecloth, on the mouth of the jar, seal it with a rubber band and place the jar in a dark and dry place (the cupboard is perfect). Let it rest for at least 2 weeks (this time will vary depending on your location and on the quality of the starter), without moving or shacking the jar.

After that time you will spot a sort of pale, weird and flat pancake that looks like a jelly fish. This is your SCOBY.

Then you can go to STEP 2:

Boil 8 cups of water in a large pot.

Add 8 green tea bags (unflavored) and allow steep for 20-25 minutes.

Remove the tea bags and add one cup of sugar. Stir well.

The tea should be at room temperature, before pouring it into a crock or a one-gallon mason jar.

Add 8 more cups water to the jar and place the SCOBY into the jar, cover with a piece of old t-shirt and seal with a rubber band.

Make it ferment for 7-14 days.

How do you know the kombucha is ready?

Simply move the SCOBY aside and take a little out with a clean spoon.

The taste of the kombucha may be slightly carbonated and unflavored, and you may drink it as it is.

What is Moxibustion healing?

What is Moxibustion healing?

Using mugwort in moxibustion heat therapy is amongst the oldest forms of Chinese traditional medicine which is used to stimulate the actual flow of qi and maintain general health. It specifically dispels cold and water.

Moxibustion Healing is the process of focusing heat upon acupressure points.  This method can treat pains and aches and is even recognized to relieve menstrual cramps.

Traditionally it meant burning moxa – mugwort along with herbs – directly on the skin over acupressure things. Because of pain, burning and in many cases scarring, this method will be seldom used. Sometimes the burning moxa can be placed on some ginger, salt or additional compound – carefully, by a skilled practitioner, so it heats but does definitely not burn.

Today, indirect moxibustion involves burning a moxa stick an inch or maybe more above the skin, or maybe combining moxibustion with acupuncture. Within this method, an acupuncture needle will be inserted and heated by burning moxa – thus heat is conducted through the needle in the body.

All moxibustion will involve burning mugwort (artemesia vulgaris), a tiny, spongy herb, compounded along with other herbs, depending upon requirements. Mugwort, the plant based essence of moxibustion, is fabled worldwide for preventing the evil eye in addition to maintaining health.

Moxibustion dates back to the Western Zhou Dynasty (c. 11th century-770BC). The actual Chinese characters for acupuncture zhen jiu, which translated literally means “acupuncture-moxibustion. ”

Because the two therapies share a similar purpose, improving the flow of energy, they were often utilised in pairs. However, moxibustion has its very own special benefits.

“Both acupuncture and moxibustion make an effort to unblock the energy channels and thus stimulate the energy stream, yet moxibustion is more appropriate in dispelling coldness in addition to dampness while warming the actual meridians. This is a result of the characteristics of mugwort, the actual raw material of moxa, ” claims Cao Yinyan, the chairman at Yinyan Indirect Moxibustion Wellbeing Resort.

Cao Yinyan used to be a plastic surgeon, but has taken on the study and practice of TCM and moxibustion about several years ago when she observed Western medicine inadequate as being a holistic approach. She now operates three moxibustion health resorts as well as a moxibustion training school.

“The human body is like a running machine. Water will rust it though coldness will freeze that, ” says Cao. “Therefore, apart from adding oil to help it to run again, we should also help it eliminate the unfriendly damp and chilly environment. And that’s exactly what moxibustion does. ”

You’ll find three common types involving moxibustion: direct moxibustion having a moxa cone, moxa needle (acupuncture) therapy, and indirect moxibustion having a moxa stick.

In moxibustion having a moxa cone, a small, cone-shaped piece of moxa is placed along with an acupuncture point in addition to burned. It can be placed directly on the skin or placed on some ginger, aconite herbal wedding cake, or salt.

Moxa needle therapy, or wen zhen (warm needle), will be “acupuncture-moxibustion. ” Needles are generally inserted into acupuncture things, while the top on the needle is wrapped inside moxa and ignited. The needles conduct heat into the energy routes. Moxa is absorbed over the skin, and inhaled.

Moxibustion having a moxa stick, xuan jiu (indirect), is the most popular because there is dramatically reduced risk of pain or maybe burning. A practitioner lights one end of your moxa stick, roughly the size and shape of a cigar, and holds it near the area being treated for a few minutes until the area turns red from the heat.

“With preparation in addition to back work (including mugwort rear massage), the moxibustion therapy will be relaxing and pleasant, ” claims Cao.

Patients first bathe their feet in warm herbal liquid medicine, which helps open the acupuncture points and stimulate the blood flow. Then essential mugwort oil is massaged in the back of a patient lying on his or her stomach. The aromatic penetrating oil will stimulate the flow of energy.

Then comes the key part – moxibustion. The moxa stick could be held one to three inches above skin.

Many people find the actual moxa aroma relaxing. The moxa sticks are generally compounded with mugwort and different herbs for different ailments, such as deficient yang electricity, excessive internal heat, or maybe dampness.

When the heat on the burning moxa stick penetrates the acupuncture point, the muscle and surrounding area will be warm. The warm area expands as the stick is kept inside the same place for several minutes.

As your energy channel becomes more free, the faster the warm area stretches. The coldness or water will actually come right out of the acupuncture point in the method, and the practitioner may feel it. If that you are seriously suffering from water, the emerging dampness will even moisten the burning moxa stick and change its shape from the cylinder to a cone.

Therapy takes about 90 a few minutes, then you eat the cup of white candida soup. The sound of “great mercy mantra” from the tape or CD occurs with full treatment, helping someone to relax physically and emotionally.

osho active meditation

osho active meditation

At Santosa Detox & Wellness Center, every Saturday afternoon, we have a very special meditation – Osho active meditation.

Many meditative techniques require one to sit still and silent. But for most of us accumulated stress in our body and mind makes that difficult. In the modern world people are living a very repressed life.

“Just sitting directly in silence won’t help. The moment you will sit silently, you will see all sorts of things moving inside you; you will feel it almost impossible to be silent. First throw those things out so you come to a natural state of rest. Real meditation starts only when you are at rest.” – Osho

Before we can hope to access our inner powerhouse of consciousness, we need to let go of our tensions. All of Osho’s active meditations involve a beginning stage of activity — sometimes intense and physical — followed by a period of silence. All are accompanied by music that has been specially composed to guide the meditator through the different stages.

Osho Kundalini Meditation lasts for one hour and has four stages, three with music, and the last without. It is best done at sunset or in the late afternoon. It can be done alone, but the energy will be more powerful if it is done in a group. Being fully immersed in the shaking and dancing of the first two stages helps to “melt” the rock-like being, wherever the energy flow has been repressed and blocked. Then that energy can flow, dance and be transformed into bliss and joy.

The last two stages enable all this energy to flow vertically, to move upwards into silence. It is a highly effective way of unwinding and letting go at the end of the day. As the mind becomes completely empty, your whole energy becomes aflame of awakening. This flame is the result of meditation. So you can say meditation is another name of watching, witnessing, observing – without any judgement, without any evaluation. One thing has to be remembered about meditation; it is a long journey and there is no shortcut. It is a long journey because the change is very deep and is achieved after many years of routine habits, thinking, desiring.

Welcome to join us on Saturday to explore more life possibilities!
